Free funded places for 2 year olds

Two year olds in Darlington are eligible for 15 hours of free childcare during term time (no fewer than 38 weeks of the year)

Children who are looked after by the Council, and children whose families are in receipt of the following benefits may be eligible:

  • Income support
  • Income based jobseekers allowance
  • Income related employment and support allowance
  • Support under part VI of the immigration and asylum act 1999
  • The guarantee element of state pension credit
  • Child tax credit/working tax credit and have an annual gross income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190 (this amount may be subject to change)
  • Universal credit (please note that universal credit is in the process of being phased out)
  • Disability living allowance

The following eligibility criteria also apply:

  • The child has a current statement of SEN or an education, health and care plan
  • The child is no longer looked after by the local authority as a result of an adoption order, a special guardianship order or a child arrangements order which specifies with whom the child lives.
